Radio Cairo Podcasts

Radio Cairo‘s modulation on shortwave remains bad, but there are currently podcasts available, containing the Egyptian foreign broadcaster’s North American service programs.

Downloads available →there, on Radio 360, a media website. Still no great audio as far as Cairo is concerned, but much better than what most of us are probably used to.

Be prepared for a distorted calibration tone during the first two minutes and 35 seconds on the “Monday, 14.03.2016” recording, which actually contains the Sunday program (March 13, 2016).

  1. I`ve got no idea of shortwave, but i do recognize eagles if I see them (not to speak of the birds with c.). The stamps are reminding of the Reichsadler, somehow. Didn`t know that it is an Egyptian emblem.

  2. Weird – never thought about it, but then, this is probably the shape the authoritative eagle has to take. If I remember it correctly, the Syrian and Iraqi eagles look quite the same, probably all from the nationalist Nasser era.

  3. If Wikipedia is to be trusted, the eagle is far older, initiated by -> Sultan Saladin (1137–1193), assumed to be his symbol. And part of the cairo citadel.

Later, in the 1950, adopted by other arab nations, due to the Egyptian revolution.
