"with a blog, I was able to post my views with the necessary ease, and didn’t have to wonder if what I wrote was too childish to befit a grown-up man."

Well said, JR.

It's true - I felt much more alert throughout the days without staring on the screen. And also, there are a lot of enjoyable and useful things to do offline. Thanks for writing - I'll try to justify your trust in this blog's quality. :)

I explained some of my (amateur, to be sure) views in the post and in my reply to Ivy's comment above. Basically, in terms of employment and innovation, I believe that America must maintain an industrial base of its own - if the USD remained the main reserve currency, that would hamper America's own development. But of course, the switch to a more diverse reserve currency system shouldn't come overnight - that would crush the Dollar's value.
For the same reason, as not to devalue the USD reserves they have, export-led economies like China shouldn't try to dispose of most of their USDs all of a sudden. It should be a careful, concerted process which (as far as I can see) will require close cooperation of all parties involved.

Alex, president Obama almost sold Taiwan, though only with an erroneous spoken line, and he realised the problem before completing it, observed Yi Fan of the Southern Metropolis Daily, translated by ESWN:
"But as good as his speech-making is, he makes the occasional slip. For example, when it came to the Taiwan problem, Obama began by saying: 'Taiwan and the rest of ...' He was about to say "China" when he realized that this was inconsistent with the official position of the United States. Therefore, he quickly switched to ' ... and the People's Republic of China.'"
But Associated Press was apparently less well-prepared than president Obama, concerning issues of strategic ambiguity, observes Talk Taiwan.
As for Tibet, methinks the moment of truth will come during the coming weeks, when Obama will either meet or not meet the Dalai Lama.
Adam, I believe that our grandchildren will still know newspapers. I can't see how the internet should replace them altogether, even though publishers and author guilds are doing too little to protect IPR against insatiable search engines, for example...

Your posts have showed quality, so don't worry about the frequency how often you will publish, it will attract readers despite less frequent updates.

Blogging everyday may not be kind for your own health, especially your eyes are over used...although you may not realize the bad effect until you are old.

Suppose you are from China. Would you be in favor of there being more diversity in currency reserves instead of depending on the US dollar? Why? What are the pros and cons? If yes what other currencies would be appropriate for the roll?
